The 2012 Market Night was a great success, and raised about $14,000 for the school. All the crossed fingers out there produced fine weather, which meant that lots of families from our school and the Hataitai and Kilbirnie communities were able to enjoy the full range of items and activities available.

The busking competition for our students was a great success, with a large audience on the bottom court watching our talented youngsters. Many people took to opportunity to have dinner while watching the performances. Our multicultural cuisine stand was again a hit, and the venison pies sold out quickly again. And there were also steady queues for sausages, burgers and ham on the bone. Thanks again to HireMaster for their generous support.

Up on the top field the kids activities were popular. The activities were sponsored by Nicki Cruikshank of Tommy’s Real Estate, and she provided us with the Tommy’s Bouncy Castle which is always popular. The SPCA provided animals for petting, and is likely to have increased demand for adoptions as a result. Kids sumo suits were again popular and there was the new mini golf and Boom Blaster balloon game this year.

We provided many opportunities for Christmas shopping this year, with external crafters coming in to sell their products, as well as our own craft stall and things made by our students. The second hand clothing went well, as did toys – there were some great bargains to be had.

The cake stall had a condensed milk theme to it, with many bakers taking up the offer of free Nestle Highlander condensed milk cans.

Thanks to everyone who supported the Market Night by helping with planning,  set up, manning stalls, as well as purchasing products.
